La’a proposed to Sadie at Pipeline previously, so this spot had a lot of significance to them. They had a few shots from their proposal but nothing major. It wasn’t necessarily planned that we would shoot their engagement session here also, but somehow it just worked out that way. I mean literally, all we knew was that we were going to shoot somewhere on the North Shore. I was texting Sadie the day of our shoot tossing around ideas because somehow we hadn’t planned it ahead of time haha! After a few ideas, we end up at Pipeline. The surf was BIG! HUGE! LIKE FOR REAL! The shore break was powerful, foamy and pure white! The sound of the ocean roared throughout the whole coast. So somehow we decided that was a great opportunity to take some water shots. I mean it was, but goodness did these two get worked by those waves. It was like a human washing machine! I remember seeing some of the waves crash on them and just feeling so bad hahaha! But hey, I guess we all kind of signed up for it! Sadie and I had sand stuck thick within our hair and were drenched head-to-toe. I don’t know how in the world La’a’s shirt looks dry all these images! There is no way he could’ve stayed dry after being pelted over and over again by salt water ha! But we ended with the most incredible sunset, bursting with color. We were tired and refreshed from the strong ocean but thankful for all the unexpected fun it added to our evening!
Fine photography!
